水都大阪を象徴する街、中之島。川に恵まれ水上交通の便が優れていたため、商業やビジネスはもちろん、情報と文化の発信地として大阪が発展する上で大きな役割を担い、親しまれてきた。その地で歴史を築き上げてきた「リーガロイヤルホテル」の最上階で、格別な眺望を最大限生かしつつ、中之島の魅力を感じることができるレストランを創りたいと考えた。テーマは「水と光」。川の水面に映る光の煌めきから着想を得た。オリジナルアートはもちろん、カーペットやパーティションのグラフィックにも、この世界感を投影することで、特性のある一貫した空間づくりを心掛けた。配置では、床が高い中央ゾーンを中之島、その周りの低いゾーンは中之島を代表する “堂島川”と“土佐堀川”と見たてて計画。こうすることで店内での視線に高低差がつき、他のお客様との視線の交錯を抑えながら眺望を楽しむことができるよう配慮している。中央のブース席は、平安時代に中之島にあったと伝えられる蔵屋敷を想起し、四方にフレームを配して空間の輪郭をつくり、個室のようなプライベート感を創り出した。個室については、ホテルに所蔵されていた著名な作家の絵を部屋のシンボルとして配置することで、芸術の街としても知られる中之島の品格を醸し、特別感を高めている。地域の特色を具現化し、店内各所に散りばめたこの空間で、多くの方に中之島の魅力を感じていただくことができればうれしく思う。（松浦竜太郎／乃村工藝社、文責BAMBOO）

Nakanoshima is a symbolic city of aquapolis, Osaka. Because the city had many rivers, its waterway traffic has contributed to the development of Osaka as a source of a business, commerce, information, and culture. We planned to create a restaurant where guests can feel charm of Nakanoshima with a great view on the top floor of RIHGA ROYAL HOTEL which had built up its history in this city. Theme of interior design is “Water & Light”. We got inspirations from surface of a river, sparkling in the sunshine. Not only original art pieces but also graphics of carpets and partitions have the same theme so that the space has a united characteristic. The restaurant has two different floor levels. Higher one in the center expresses Nakanoshima and lower in surroundings symbolic two rivers “Dojima-gawa” and “Tosabori-gawa” –Nakanoshima means a middle island–. This layout makes different levels of sight lines and thus customers’ sights don’t cross at the same level and they can enjoy their own view enough. Booth seats in the center with frames, inspired by Japanese traditional storehouse in Heian period (AD 794-1192), create private feelings. Private rooms have famous art pieces on their walls which have been housed in the hotel. It creates an aura of Nakanoshima as an art city and enhances the uniqueness of the restaurant.
