オープンで親しみやすい施設にするため、展示室と収蔵室を同じ部屋にまとめ、家具を建築的なスケールまで引き延ばすことで空間を覆い尽くしました。
高さ5mの巨大な棚は所蔵量を可視化し、この施設の調査収集等、活動の豊富さを空間的に表現しています。また54段の引き出しは、自転車や部品の展示、収蔵の役割を果たし、ガラスのショーケースとは異なった、見る楽しさや親しみやすさを演出しています。引き出しの上部は、床としての強度も備え、巡り回る動線を作ると同時に観る楽しさを演出しています。
こうした造作家具により、展示と収蔵が一体となり、訪れた人が自転車の歴史や文化をより身近に感じられることを望んでいます。（柴田祐希／加藤直樹／住吉かほり）

In order to create an open and friendly space, we covered the entire space by combining the showroom and storage and also expanding the furniture size to a structural scale. The huge 5 meters high shelf, which visualizes the amount of collection, spatially expresses the affluent investigation and activities of this bicycle culture center. The 54 wooden drawers exhibits and stores bicycles and several parts, presenting the fun to see and familiarity differently from glass-made showcases. The top panels of the drawers have enough strength to function as floors, creating traffic lines of guests and the fun to watch them at the same time. By placing the custom-made furniture, we hope the exhibition and storage get united and thus visitors will feel more familiarity with the history and culture of bicycles.
